Tom Cruise has become Of Sufficient Age to Star in 'Cocoon,' Literally
Wilford Brimley switched 77-years of age on Tuesday, which brought to numerous people around Moviefone HQ asking, "Wait, Wilford Brimley is just 77-years of age?Inch He's. And what's really very worthwhile about Brimley's age is the fact that Tom Cruise -- who'll once more play super agent Ethan Search in December's 'Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol' -- is identical age that Brimley was once the Quaker Oats pitchman shot 'Cocoon.' Allow me to repeat for effect: Tom Cruise -- starring in 'Mission Impossible 4' -- is identical age that Wilford Brimley is at 'Cocoon.' Should you haven't seen it shortly, 'Cocoon' may be the story of several seniors buddies who -- because of some useful alien intervention -- are re-energized with youth. The 1985 film starred 76-year-old Don Ameche, 73-year-old Hume Cronyn, 76-year-old Jack Gilford, 75-year-old Jessica Tandy and Brimley because the number of seniors buddies. Oh, funny factor about this: Presuming nearly all 'Cocoon' was shot back in 1984, Brimley was just 49 at that time! I question what that conversation was like between Brimley and director Ron Howard: "Hey, Wilford, I'd enjoy you to stay in 'Cocoon.'" "The film concerning the seniors people? I'd like to, Ron. Had you been thinking I'd function as the guy using the boat who helps the seniors people? "No, no. We have already hired Steve Guttenberg." "Oh... would you like me to become the alien?" "Nah. We now have John Dennehy for your. What we should want is that you should play among the seniors people." "You need to do understand that I am only 4 years over the age of Dennehy, right?" So happy belated birthday, Wilford! Oh, and congratulations, Tom Cruise, for still playing an action star in the same age that Brimley needed to automatically get to another planet to ward-off senior years.
